Our story

After 6 years under the Madhatter Roastery name, it’s time; Time to bring newness and shape the brand around who you are, who we are and what we feel this space breathes. In deciding the new name, we wanted to bring merriment, curiosity + aspiration while maintaining the feeling of home and family; a place of kindness and earnestness. Hence, Poolhouse. This business has been all of these things in our own lives, and so many of yours as well, and we felt that a fresh brand image, feeling and story was the only authentic way forward. We owe everything to the time of “Madhatter” but it became difficult to create something new with a name that has many associations beyond what we’ve created and are able to make our own. We hope this inspires the feeling of a holiday in your hometown everytime you hold our cup or bag of coffee in your hand, and though the space and name has changed, we are confident that you will find that the fine quality of our team and products remains at the heart of all we do.

Therefore, we want to welcome you into our house, but not just any ordinary house – a vibrant, grounded, conversation-starting POOLHOUSE. Who doesn’t want to hangout at a beautiful poolhouse with serene architecture, tranquil water glistening in your peripherals, friends, laughter and conversation thick in the air, lay out on a lounge chair, a cup of deliciously juicy coffee in your hand, engulfed in a moment of “this is living.” Let yesterday’s frets and today’s concerns ease away into gentle waters. Drown out the noise and be here, at the Poolhouse with us. Poolhouse is Medicine Hat’s watering hole and a place to gather around, inspired by all the sentiments of a poolhouse. We hope Poolhouse Roastery is a reflection of the balance between fun + intention and inspires us all to go beneath the surface with one another and ourselves.
